Skin Types
As previously mentioned in my last post, I'm going to be talking about the lovely products from Eve Taylor, which i sell in salon. Before i create my blogs about the different ranges and different products, id like to talk to you about the different skin types. It is important that you identify what your skin type is before choosing the products, this ensures the product will enhance and maintain your skin effectively.
Oily Skin- This skin type may appear sallow, dull or shiny, usually an uneven skin texture with enlarged pores, particularly down the T-zone, with comedones (blackheads) and papules. Due to an over-secretion of the sebaceous glands, often during adolescence and frequently affected by the menstrual cycle, it can occur at anytime in areas of the face. Generally the treatment you need to seek is to unblock pores through a specialist cleansing routine. Must avoid dehydrating the skin with harsh products.
Dry Skin- Generally appears pale, thin, fine lines, no visible pores, sometimes broken capillaries and flakiness. It may feel and look tight, usually a result of dehydration and more commonly associated with middle age, it can appear at any age and be caused by genetics, internal or external (such as tanning) factors. Treatments required are those that stimulate the dry skin to correct the moisture and oil balance.
Combination- Can be a combination of any two skin types on the same face. Generally a central oily zone with the cheeks and neck showing dry or normal skin. This is the most common skin type.
Normal/ Young Skin- Looks even in colour, with fine, clear texture, soft, smooth and supplest firm, with a balance of oil and moisture. Usually this skin type requires maintenance and protection treatments.
Mature Skin- With age the skin will lose firmness and elasticity, and may feel looser and thinner. This change in texture may cause the appearance of fine lines and less definition of the face contours. The skin usually becomes dry due to the sebaceous gland becoming less active. Waste products are removed less quickly than that of young skin this in turn will result in puffiness particularly around the eyes. You may also find patches pigmentation such as lentigo and chloasma.
I hope this blog has helped you to identify which skin type you are. In my next blog I shall talk about the different skin conditions.
see you in the next blog xx
